Cleveland Race Week Regatta A total of 9 boats sailed for the CR914/Cleveland Race Week regatta and there was more than enough seaweed for everyone. The fleet was healthy; we had 3 new boats sailing in their first scored regatta with us: Rich Nesbett (both generations of them) and Andrew Schmidt (who placed 3rd).
We completed 8 races (allowing 2 throw outs) before the thunderstorms rolled in. The breeze started out light and the seaweed was all but impenetrable. It was decided to shorten the course after completing only 2 races in 45 minutes (combination of wind and weeds) to a triangle/windward-leeward. The weather leg was no more than 20 yards. It made for some interesting starts and mark roundings -- especially as the wind picked up considerably. Many thanks to Joanne Nesbett for scoring the finishes. The top three finishing places were: 1. Rosenbaum-7 pts., 2. Wollet-14 pts., 3. Schmidt-20 pts. Click here download a PDF table of the complete results. Bob Rosenbaum, CR-914 #1160 |
